100th anniversary logo

As we enter our 100th year of leading special education, the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) is recognizing exceptional educators from around the world who have shown a passion, dedication, and commitment to making a difference in the lives of the students who they teach. Hear from teachers about their personal experiences working in the field, and get inspired to make your own impact this year.

Alysha DeCrescenzo

Alysha DeCrescenzo has a dual certification in elementary and special education grades 1 through 6 and just completed her Master’s degree in Urban Multi-Cultural Special Education at Rhode Island College. And most recently completed her English as a Second Language certification. She is a critical shortage gem!

Serving in Central Falls, Rhode Island, she works with a predominantly Hispanic and Latino population, with third and fourth grade students at a charter school.  She mainly pushes into the classroom as a collaborative teacher. Alysha advocates inclusion and wants our students to be in the general education setting as much as possible.
