Dr. Zelphine Smith-Dixon Welcomes You to "What I Wish I Knew"
In our new "What I Wish I Knew" Conversation Series, members of CEC's Student and Early-Career Committee (SECC) are coming together to support new teachers starting out in the field. You requested a safe space to meet and ask all the questions you need in order to prepare for the upcoming school year, and so "What I Wish I Knew" was born. A series of casual Zoom conversations hosted over the course of two months, "What I Wish I Knew" is a chance for new special educators to ask veterans: "What do you wish YOU knew when you first started teaching?"
With seven calls that are free and open to all, the series includes two calls specifically for BIPOC professionals to come together and discuss the issues that impact them. In addition to new and early-career special educators, outstanding veterans from all levels of CEC membership are joining the calls as well to share their experiences, provide inspiration, and offer tips and tricks to help you feel like a success as soon as you walk through the classroom door.
