Mental health needs often become evident as children with disabilities develop into adolescents, resulting in greater academic struggles, social interaction and relationship challenges, and a need for increased support. However, educators often feel unprepared to support the mental wellness of adolescents with disabilities in school settings. In this manuscript we provide goal-setting strategies educators can use to support adolescents with disabilities who also have mental health needs (D/MH). Specifically, we describe how goal-setting may serve as an approach to support mental wellness and provide suggestions for implementation.

Conover Online is the best program to use to help your students journey from middle school through post-secondary life. Preparing individuals with disabilities for life after high school presents unique challenges and having the appropriate tools in place to overcome these challenges is a must. By making sure individuals have the life skills to succeed, positioning them with the right career and education paths, and teaching the social and emotional skills to understand themselves and others, it provides the perfect blend to help your students reach their goals. Asking educators to do “another thing” is asking too much, so make sure that the tool you use does not add to your workload. Conover Online is truly turn-key, is backed by research, is age-appropriate and has a name that has been around for almost 45 years. Conover Online is all this–and more–and we would love to walk you through a demo, set up a trial or write you a quote so we can begin to partner with you to ensure your students’ success.
