The 74 Updates COVID Education Relief Fund Tracking Tool

The 74, an education-focused news website, has updated its online tool that tracks the ways in which states are using their federal COVID relief funds to support students and educators. The interactive tool is based on the 49 state plans submitted to the U.S. Department of Education and allows users to view each state’s top priorities for using federal aid. It also provides more detail on specific goals, namely tutoring, school climate, data systems, and innovations.

Included in the innovations category is a special focus on strengthening the educator workforce. Many states are addressing educator shortages by waiving licensure fees, allowing emergency licenses, and prioritizing diversity in teacher pipelines. The tool also highlights several states’ efforts to create “grow-your-own” programs.
