Last week, the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights (OCR) announced that they will administer a Civil Rights Data Collection (CRDC) for the 2021-2022 school year. This will be the first time that OCR has collected data two years in a row.

It is issuing this second data collection effort to better understand the lasting impact of COVID-19 on the nation’s schools. This data will be especially useful as schools receive and use federal stimulus funding to address equity and pandemic related issues.

The information provided by the CRDC will allow schools, districts, and governments to make funding and policy decisions to best support students and educators and will also ensure schools and districts are complying with civil rights laws.
