In recent years, the concerted efforts to roll back progress in diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) initiatives have posed an existential threat to special education and the disabled community. This editorial acknowledges the growing concerns around anti-DEIA measures, particularly as they relate to censorship, de-funding, disenfranchisement, and the dismantling of protections designed to safeguard the most systematically marginalized members of our society. As researchers, advocates, and policymakers, we must confront this divisiveness head-on, reaffirming our commitment to equitable educational access, participation, and outcomes for individuals with disabilities. Our vision remains as urgent and critical as ever: ensuring the rights of individuals with disabilities, and strengthening the capacities of those we serve—and those who serve them—remains at the forefront of our educational policies and practices.
